In a move which marks the expansion of the Pokémon roster in the popular Pokémon GO mobile game, developer Niantic Labs has announced the release of a new update introducing some new creatures in the July 2016-launched game.
In announcing the new update, Niantic said that, with effect from Monday, December 12, the new creatures which can now be collected by Pokémon GO gamers include Togepi, Pichu, and some "select Pokémon" from the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver iterations.
Other than the Togepi and Pichu creatures, which can be collected through egg-hatching, Pokémon GO gamers have also apparently started spotting some other creatures in the game, including Cleffa, Elekid, Magby, and Igglybuff.
Meanwhile, though Niantic has expanded the roster of Pokémon in Pokémon GO game, gamers are apparently not pleased -- as is evident from the reaction of a number of gamers from forums and comment sections -- about the fact that the new additions are fewer than expected.
However, asserting that the scant initial second-generation Pokémon roster in Pokémon GO will change in the future, Niantic said in a blog post: "These are the first of more Pokémon coming to Pokémon GO over the next few months."
