Facebook for iPhone app has more than 100 million active monthly users
According to a recent report from tech focused site Redmond Pie, citing one of the latest posts on the Facebook Developer Blog, there are currently more than 100 million active monthly users of the Facebook application for iPhone.
The Facebook application for Apple’s mobile devices – iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad - is a free app, available from the Apple iTunes App Store. The app is compatible with the iPhone 3.0 Software Update or later.
Going by the information put forth on the Facebook Developer Blog, the social networking site is accessed from mobile devices by nearly 150 million people; and, out of theses, 100 million people per month actively use the Facebook for iPhone application.
Referring to the popularity of use of the Facebook iPhone app, David Kirkpatrick, author of The Facebook Effect, noted that the application is “so heavily used compared to other apps that I have been told by someone who thought he knew the data that more than half of all usage of the iPhone of apps, other than those provided by the phone itself like telephony and email, is coming from Facebook.”
Furthermore, a number of new features have recently been added via the latest update of Facebook for iPhone, which now “granular” privacy settings; a snappier inbox that offers support for threads with multiple users; a fix for login issues; and and a notably bettered performance when commenting, liking or posting stories.
