Social Search Added to Labs by Google

To help users "find more relevant public content from your broader social circle", as stated in a blog by the company, search engine giant Google has announced that it will be adding an experimental Labs feature which will peruse popular social networks to bring out more relevant search results. The announcement follows another helpful change announced recently by Google and Microsoft that Twitter postings will now be incorporated into both Google and Bing (Microsoft's search engine).

Under the change, Google's Social Search will pull information from other Google services such as Gmail and Reader, as well as social networks like Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn. Users who want to be a part of the ongoing effort can participate by creating a Google profile and adding links to the networking sites they want the search engine to explore.

Putting any concerns that users might have immediately at rest, Google said that no private information will be made public via any search medium. "You can find it without Social Search if you really want to. What we've done is surface that content together in one single place to make your results more relevant", Google said.

All Google users will be able to use the service by the end of the day.
