At the Housing New Zealand, the Public Service Association members have announced the initiation of an industrial action, and are now in an attempt to rule. This action comprises salary talks between the PSA and Housing Corporation for around 10 months.
PSA National Secretary Richard Wagstaff said, “We're extremely disappointed that despite this long period of negotiation the corporation has failed to address workers' concerns over pay and conditions. Our members' pay is no longer keeping pace with the cost of living. We also want a fairer more transparent pay system with clearly defined pay rates”.
On the other hand, looking at the expectations of the employees, they are seeking for a 2% hike in their wages. But, it has been said that these workers have to follow a 40-hour-week guideline, which in reality, is being exploited by them.
Another complaint was logged, that several workers work overtime but no extra pay is considered for them, neither do they get any allowance for it. This accounts to be for over thousands of hours for free for the Company.
Thus, this association will now work for the association will now work for the adequate waged to be given to the employees, if they work over time.
