Twitter to introduce 15 types of new ads into timelines
According to recent reports, including one from the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), popular microblogging service Twitter has plans underway to roll out new types of ads over the next few weeks; with the first set of the new products scheduled for release next month.
The reports have revealed that Twitter will introduce as many as 15 types of new advertisements into timelines; thereby enabling the users of the microblogging site to download mobile apps with one single click.
Going by the WSJ report, Twitter has already briefed advertisers about the new ways in which they can use Twitter cards for engaging users. The company will test a mobile app install unit, in an evident attempt to improve its earnings prospects from download-focused mobile developers.
The Twitter cards which will help advertisers engage users will feature a download button that would take users straight to the Apple App Store or the Google Play store; thereby facilitating mobile users in the download of apps.
Noting that the new ads will be an extension of Twitter's preexisting 'Cards,' the WSJ report said that Twitter executives have been showing potential advertisers "how Cards can be used to encourage users to sign up for sweepstakes and contests with one-click sharing of their email addresses."
