An eight-year-old boy will urge the decision-makers of Australia to avoid something happening to others that happened to him. He would ask them to provide more funding for research into Type 1 diabetes.
About 100 Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Youth Ambassadors would gather at Parliament House, Canberra, on March 18, to request those sitting at the top to increase awareness about Type 1 diabetes.
Sharon, Aden Dagostino’s mother, said that after Aden was diagnosed with the disease, his life is totally changed and he has to undergo painful pricking every time his blood sugar needs to be examined.
The gathered group will urge the politicians to support funding for a Clinical Trials Network, as this will improve patients’ access to the latest developments in science thus speeding up the curative process.
Sharon said, “Type 1 is like picking a raffle ticket out of a hat, you get it randomly. Type 2 is a lifestyle issue and can be cured but there is no cure for Type 1.”
