Revealing the reason behind the Whitney Houston’s coughing and breathlessness bouts during her much-slandered and clearly disastrous Australian tour, the pop star’s promoter Andrew McManus said that the Houston is a smoker, suffering from throat problems which she refuses to get treated.
Saying that the gospel-loving erstwhile pop superstar was largely relying on her faith to get through her Australian tour – her first to the country since 1988, McManus said: “Whitney smokes. She will not take any substances. She just will not. It is what it is.”
Further adding that the 46-year-old Houston is “comfortable with the show she's performing,” McManus said: “She knows she’s not hitting every note like she used to. But it’s value for money; it’s Whitney Houston warts and all.”
Referring to Houston’s ‘disastrous’ outdoor shows in Sydney and Brisbane last week, during which the singer’s forgotten lyrics and unsteady pitch disappointed many a fans, McManus said that Houston is aware of the feelings of dislike that surround her. McManus also revealed that Houston had asked him not to protect her because she feels the hatred and critical attacks may be “God’s will.”
Apparently, it was her destructive relationship with drug-addicted, not-so-famous pop star husband, Bobby Brown, that spelt wrecked her life and career, leading her to drug dependency – a habit that she has now kicked; but which has evidently taken its toll!
