As per a new research, it has been revealed that shorter men live longer than the taller man. The news is especially said to be a matter of celebration for Northern Ireland men.
Lead researchers Poulain from Belgium and Dr Salaris from the University of Cagliari in Italy, said that they have found that shorter men live two years more than taller men. In order to reach at the above given conclusion, the study researchers assessed 500 males born between 1866 and 1915.
It has also been found that total lifespan of women is equivalent to men in the municipality of Villagrande, which is said to be one of the communities that has shortest population.
It is the first time that they have seen such pattern in humans, said the study researchers. They further affirmed that such pattern is quite common in animals, like smaller dogs live longer than medium dogs and medium dogs live longer than large sized dogs.
In addition, monkeys, mice, rats, ponies and Asian elephants are also said to live longer. The study researchers said that they have found that height contributes 10% to person's total life span. It should be noted that one can improve his longevity by having good nutritious diet and doing regular exercise as well as taking good medical care.
So, those, who are tall does not need to panic, as they still can live as long as 100 years, but only if they take good care of them.
Poulain quipped that the research is good way for men to defend them as if their partners joke about their height with them. They could simple say that their height is n indication that they are going to live longer.
