Recently, the drug, BIND-014, has attracted too much of the media attention as it is claimed that the drug is capable of treating cancer effectively. It has been informed that the device has been created by the collaborate efforts of Cambridge biotechs MIT and Harvard researchers.

While praising the creation of the drug, Dr. Omid Farokhzad from Harvard Medical School said, “I am not sure it could have been produced somewhere else… We needed the sophisticated investor base and the talented human capital to develop such a drug. There are very few places on Planet Earth that can do this as effectively as Boston can”.

It has been informed that the drug has been created by combing various minute chemical particles which hold potential of reducing the growth of cancerous cells. The drug was recently tested over 17 cancer patients how had already gone through chemotherapy.

During the trial, it was found that patients after being administered with the drug were positively affected. The size of the cancer shrunk significantly. While sighting the example of new drug, Dr. John Abramson from Harvard Medical School said that researches should be conducted to find beneficial cancer treatments.

The researchers are of the view that the new cancer drug can reduce the side effects of chemotherapy and can boost the cancer treatment. It has been claimed that the drug is capable of not only reducing the size of tumor but is also beneficial in increasing the survival rate.

It is hoped that soon the drug would be made available for clinical use. Every year, a large number of people succumb to death because of cancer. The introduction of drug like BIND-014 can actually help in saving innocent lives, believe researchers.
