It has been announced by Scottish scientists that within a year, an application to convert language sign into text would be introduced. The application called Portable Sign Language Translator (PSLT) would revolutionize the world and will definitely bring comfort to the patients with hearing problems.
It has been informed that the device is being developed by a company called Technabling. The device works by recognizing the hands of the users and then translating it into text with in fraction of seconds. Dr. Ernesto Compatangelo from Technabling was reported as saying, "The aim of the technology is to empower sign language users by enabling them to overcome the communication challenges they can experience, through portable technology".
It has further been informed that through the device, the sign users would be allowed to create their own signs for their personal needs. It is hoped that the device thus formed would help people in conveying message to deaf people.
The device would be useful for the users of British Sign Language (BSL) as well. About 70,000 Britons currently uses BSL for commuting. With the gadget their life would be eased up. People with hearing difficulty often find it difficult to communicate with others. The device thus developed would no doubt help in improving the lives of many.
Moreover, it is believed that dumb people could also take the benefit of the device. It has been informed that the application would be installed on tablets, laptops net book and various other portable gadgets. These gadgets are easy to carry and therefore would be convenient for usage as well. People would have to wait for at least a year to enjoy the benefits of the
