Job Worries Leading People to Depression

DepressionIn a recent research it has been revealed that the economic downturn that the world is facing these days has been a reason for increasing stress in the minds of people. The research claimed that the scenario is such that it led many people to depression in the recent past.

Financial security is one of the most important assets in life, and when one is at the risk of losing their job, it becomes a very awkward and stressful situation. This makes the person tensed and worried. There are people all over the world, who need to earn money for sustaining their families. In the recession time, many people have either lost their jobs, or are on the verge of losing them. People are constantly under the pressure of performing well in their offices otherwise they might be at the way outside soon. This is what is ebbing away the people. They cannot be happy and focused on anything in life, till there is no job security.

The research has been conducted by a team from the University of Nottingham together with the University of Ulster.

There has been a 40% rise in the number of cases of depression in the country after the recession woes have hit hard on people.

It is essential that people try and maintain calm even in such situations and don’t leave hope. They need to understand that seeking help from a counselor might prove to be really beneficial for them in this scenario.

“Occupational-health provision is even more important in times of recession, as specialists can help with the stress caused by mounting workloads, organizational change and job uncertainty. We can help businesses look at how they manage stress levels and improve the working environment for workers”, said Dr. Henry Goodall, from the Society of Occupational Medicine.
