Surprise Checks for Care Homes

care-homeIn a recent report, it has been revealed that there is going to be uninformed checks conducted on residential places in the country by the Care and Quality Commissions. This shall be done in order to check if the basic living and cleanliness standards are being maintained by the people of the vicinity.

The care homes for the elderly have been under a lot of scrutiny recently and this is why there are now checks going to be conducted to find out if there is efficient care being given to the people living in these care homes. There is need for ensuring that the elderly are living in a good condition, after the recent ruckus that has been faced by the authorities about the condition in which the elderly people are kept in the care homes.

There is need for more efforts to be made to take good care f the people living in car homes. They need to be given food, hydration, and medical care at the right time according to their needs. This makes it all the more essential for checks to be conducted to find out if they are meeting their daily needs and requirements in time.

“In extreme cases, there have been instances of abuse and neglect, but there are many examples of older people being spoken about as if they were not there, deprived of basic privacy or denied respect for their hygiene or personal appearance”, said a letter by Care Minister Paul Burstow.

These surprise checks would mean that the necessities shall be provided to them on time and the authorities would work for the benefit of the patients at least from fear of the checks.
