In a recent report, it has been revealed that even dental clinics put their patients on long waiting lists Citizens from Ashburton have been forced to wait for a long time before they can have their precious dental appointment. This has definitely affected the oral health of the people of the area.
It was revealed according to new figures from the Victorian Health Services that the patients have been made to wait for weeks to months for their dental clinic appointments. It was said that the waiting times have been till up to six to seven moths recently. This means that the people of the area need better dental facilities.
The government needs to take care of the fact that there is need for more dental clinics in the area. They need to have enough dental chairs, so as to cut the backlog, of so many people waiting for their teeth to be filled and pulled out, and root canals to be done and so on. This is essential because teeth are a very important asset of one’s face. It is essential to keep them in the best condition.
The Australian Dental Association has urged the State Government to increase the funds for dental health services in the vicinity. “The most recent State Budget did not have any growth funding for dentistry, and funding for dental services was only increased by $2.2 million from $164.9 million to $167.1 million”, said Professor Matthew Hopcraft, the Victorian branch president.
There is need for the government to take this mater seriously and give the area more facilities for effective dental treatments in the time to come. This is essential for improving the dental health f the people of the vicinity, and preventing every day toothaches and dental emergencies in the long run.
