As per recent reports, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the 66-year-old former Brazilian President, was confirmed on Sunday of having no indications of the throat cancer.
Earlier, the leader went through a treatment for the same. Lula was hospitalized at the Sao Paulo-based Syrian-Lebanese Hospital earlier on Saturday following complaints of loss of appetite and fatigue. After carrying out all the needed medical assessments extensively, the doctors claimed that no sign of cancerous tumor was found in his throat and he is all well following the treatment of throat cancer he went through during the last year.
While expressing his opinion regarding the health of the former president of Brazil, Oncologist Artur Katz, of the doctors overseeing treatment of Lula, said: “We took advantage of the exams to evaluate the tumor, and from a tomographical point of view, the tumor can no longer be seen”.
But still, doctors will be carrying out an endoscopy after completion of Lula’s chemotherapy sessions in around four to six weeks for the sake of determining whether or not the tumor is vanished completely.
Lula was confirmed positive for carrying throat cancer in October 2011 and right away he went through meticulous treatment for getting rid of the cancer. Earlier in the month of December, Lula completed his third session of chemotherapy.
The three sessions of chemotherapy have diminished his 3-centimeter-long tumor by more than 75%, as stated by medical reports. The doctors taking care of Lula were not in favor of using surgery for the treatment of his throat cancer.
About complaints related to loss of appetite and fatigue, the doctors confirmed that these are customary side effects and indications of cancer treatment, and that’s why the former president has lost more than nine kilograms of his weight.
