A recent study has revealed that there are many who feel their best when they are about to be done with the task allocated. It is perhaps human tendency that they are most elated when they are about to touch the finishing line. This finding has been revealed by a team from the University of Michigan.
The report was seen in the journal Psychological Science, where it was made clear that endings have a major role to play in one’s life and perhaps that’s why they always feel more positive when they approach end.
“It is something motivational. You think ‘I might as well reap the benefits of this experience even though it is going to end’ or ‘I want to get something good out of this while I still can”, said the lead researcher, Ed O'Brien, who is of the view that this is human tendency to expect happy endings all the time which keep them going till the end. The lead author is a graduate student in social psychology and is of the say that there are general expectations that things would end up fine. However, there could be some different impact seen in situations like examiners marking their final paper.
The revelation was made only after the team fed 52 male and female students with five small chocolates of different flavours. The sample group was then asked about what they felt while eating different flavors. It was concluded that there were many who felt that the last chocolate was perhaps tastier than others.
It is being believed that humans do relate their natural tendency with fiction, as when they watch movies, they always expect happy endings. As the study is getting the attention of one and all, it is being believed that there is still lot to be done before making any conclusive remark.
