Scottish Government Campaign Aims At Female Drinkers

DrinkersWhile incessant words of warning are said about binge drinking, another study has taken a novel step towards making female drinkers aware about the potential consequences of drinking.

Instead of making huge steps towards getting rid of the habit, there is need for women to take small steps towards the same, as per a new Scottish Government campaign. The Alcohol Behaviour Change is of the view that women must take consistent steps to deal with drinking and should not make hasty decisions.

On the same lines, a smartphone app, free of cost, has been made part of the drive which could make women understand that those who are gulping down glass after glass would run fast towards ageing. It is necessary for women to understand that they are making things a lot worse for themselves while drinking.

“The smartphone app shows the stark reality of how one’s appearance alters as a direct result of increased alcohol intake and will no doubt shock many”, said ADP Chair, Chief Inspector Gordon Macleod, who is making it loud and clear that women must not postpone the glaring issue else it would be too late for them. In addition, there is a Wine Guess Challenge which could make one track how many units they are actually taking down in a day.

One can go for at least two alcohol-free days a week along with inclusion of healthy exercises to get their life to the right path. While there are long term health risks attached, women must start taking concrete steps towards living a healthy life.

The rate at which women drinkers are gulping down alcohol is worth pondering. There is need for more and more steps to be taken to address the percolating concern.
