Teeth are one of the most important assets of one’s face, and no matter what the age or social status of a person is, one should never neglect their teeth. In a recent statement, Diane Pevreal from the Waikato Community Oral Health Service, said that there is dire need for one and all, especially children to take good care of their oral health.
She further said that the new academic year is the perfect time for the kids to develop healthy oral hygiene habits. They seem to have had a blast with so many sweet treats and chocolates in the holiday season that their teeth have surely suffered.
There is need for parents to take care of the oral hygiene of their kids. Brushing twice a day and flossing after each meal should be made a habit.
There is need for more awareness camps to be launched in schools, to incorporate healthy oral hygiene habits in the kids. There is need for encouraging kids to form positive habits about their own health for their good. They need to learn good habits that will help them throughout their lives. It is so important to keep one’s teeth fit, because they tend to have adverse effects like foul smelling mouth and bad looking smile as well as other health problems.
The parents need to be the ones teaching healthy oral hygiene habits to the children. They need to be taught to choose healthy food and drinks so that their teeth stay fit.
"There is nothing wrong with (drinking) milk or water, but juice can be just as damaging as fizzy drink. We advise parents to do a quick check of lunch boxes and see if they can find healthier choices”, revealed Pevreal further.
