It has been recently revealed in a research that the mutation in the human genes might tend to have an adverse effect on the heath of the person. Strokes are the reason for a number of deaths in the world per year, and there is dire need for them to be prevented.
It was revealed according to a study conducted in Germany and Britain, which is of the view that the reason for the most common type of stroke is the mutation in the HDAC9 gene. The blockage in the blood vessels is the reason for the problem in the brain and this is the reason for strokes.
This gene is actually responsible for the formation of the muscle tissue and the development of the heart functions and the mutation or illness in the gene might lead to stroke. The recent study done by scientists has been given in the ‘Nature Genetics’ and is of the view that there is need for ways and measures to be incorporated for the effective fighting against the mutation of this gene, which will help in keeping the strokes at bay
The study was funded by the Welcome Trust Charity society, and there were tests conducted for the comparison of 10,000 people who have suffered from strokes, 40, 000 of those, who haven’t suffered from such a condition ever.
"Our study shows that the different subtypes of stroke could involve quite different genetic mechanisms. This is really fascinating, and if it holds up more generally will move us closer to personalized medicine”, said Professor Peter Donnelly from the Oxford University. There is need for further research and development to be done to find out the ways of preventing mutation in the gene.
