Suzanne Somers, US actress known for her dynamite figure, revealed that she underwent an experimental stem cell procedure to rebuild her breasts that had been damaged during cancer treatment.
The 65-year-old television icon was diagnosed with breast cancer around 12 years ago. To get rid of cancer, she went through a lumpectomy and radiation which left her breasts uneven.
Then she heard about a stem-cell breast reconstruction procedure, which was developed in 2004 by Japanese surgeon Kotora Yoshimura. She invited the surgeon over to Los Angeles to see she could get her famous bust line back.
Ultimately, she opted to have the surgery performed in the US plastic surgeon Dr. Joel Aronowitz.
Speaking on the topic, Suzanne told People magazine, “I decided I'd really like it to be an American achievement by an American doctor so that American women can have access.”
In the cutting edge procedure, surgeons used fat cells from Suzanne’s stomach and injected them into her smaller breast. Later they reduced the size of the larger breast. The two breasts were balanced out at a size C cup.
Suzanne said the procedure is a ray of light at the end of tunnel for breast cancer patients.
