Blood pressure is one of those illnesses which have become quite common these days. Every day we come across somebody complaining blood pressure. But, only a few knows that the problems related to blood pressure could be cured through a sip of black tea.
It has been found by a recent study, that consumption of black tea can lowers blood pressure by 2 to 3 points. It might surprise you but, according to researchers, black tea is beneficial for the health. it is for the very first time when the long term consumption of black team has been found beneficial in lowering the blood pressure.
For the study, the researchers kept a tab on the effects of black tea over 95 men and women. The participants of the study had the habit of consuming tea on daily basis. Half of the participants were asked to consume black tea for just six months.
It has informed that the participants who had black tea on regular basis had 2 and 3 points reduced in BP levels of their 24-hour average systolic blood pressure. According to the findings of the study, black tea holds potential of improving the endothelial cells which play vital role in effecting the blood pressure.
The study was conducted by the researchers of Western Australia University. The findings of the researchers have been published in the Archives of Internal Medicine. Lead author of the study, Professor Jonathan Hodgson was reported saying: “There is already mounting evidence that tea is good for your heart health, but this is an important discovery because it demonstrates a link between tea and a major risk factor for heart disease”.
It is believed that after water, tea is the most favored drink by consumers worldwide. Further studies would be conducted in the coming time to gauge the benefits of black tea over blood pressure.
