Google Reportedly Developing Phone Software to Support Real time Translation

Reports have confirmed that Google is in the process of developing a new translation software for phones, which would enable two people to converse in real time, without even using the same language.

Although the technology is still in its concept phase, considering the steps that Google has already managed to take with its online text-to-text translation service, and much recently its voice-to-text GoogleVoice technology, it does not seem it will take too long for the company to release the amazing real time translation technology, which would then definitely be a part of the next generation of smartphones.

"We think speech-to-speech translation should be possible and work reasonably well in a few years' time. Everyone has a different voice, accent and pitch. But recognition should be effective with mobile phones because by nature they are personal to you. The phone should get a feel for your voice from past voice search queries, for example", said Franz Och, Google's Head of Translation Services.
