Samsung Topples Apple as Top Smartphone Maker

Samsung Topples Apple as Top Smartphone MakerIn a recent report, it has been claimed that Samsung has managed to achieve the top spot as it could sell over 23 million units in the third quarter. The increased rate of growth could only be achieved after its new range of new Galaxy S II line and handsets powered by its own bada platform managed to impress the users.

If reports are to be believed, the company had 20% market share in third quarter as it made nearly 10 million users to pick their new offering. There are reports that indicated that Apple toppled to No. 2 worldwide after Samsung gained the top spot.

Though the company cherish the news, there are fair amount of chances that the sale could be affected in Q4 as Apple's iPhone 4S handset would be revealed in several countries Oct. 14.

There are market experts who are quite positive that Apple's fourth-quarters launch of iPhone 4S and the targeted pricing strategy could put other market players under threat of massive loss in the time to come. While Apple's fourth quarter sale would increase, other could face tough time ahead of them.

Even Nokia's recent launch of Windows Phone smartphones has also caught the attention of one and all, and there are significant expectations that competition is going to get a lot tougher in the future.

"Apple has launched its iPhone 4S and re-priced its older models in multiple countries, Apple stands poised to challenge Samsung for the leadership position", said IDC analyst Ramon Llamas.

Adding more weight to the claims is the fact that there has been hike in sale volume during the third quarter when new iPhone was launched, and same is expected to happen this time.

Among all, the massive sale volume is expected from Western Europe and the United States where the makers have always got strategic growth.
