Australian women more interested in tattoosA survey conducted from January 7th to 12th, 2010 by UMR Research Ltd. reported that 55% of Australian people considered people having a tattoo less attractive. Over one thousand people were surveyed and it was found that 43% of the men preferred females having tattoo, more liked is a tattoo on her back and 62% of the women prefer it on men's arm. This survey also concluded that females under 30 find the tattoos arresting.

UMR Managing Director John Utting said, "This research confirms that parents have every right to be worried that their child will come home with a tattoo. In years gone by, tattoos were strictly for sailor and criminal subcultures, but they've now escaped into the wider community".

Moldi, an artist at Cronulla's Body Art Tattoos in Sydney said, "Women like to display who they are and where they've come from. We pay so much money for make-up and accessories and, for many tattooed people; pieces of art on the body are just another way of displaying this beauty".

Dr. Terence Poon, of Neutral Bay Laser and Dermatology Clinic stated, "Up to 10 treatments are required to remove a professional tattoo and a local anesthetic is required each time, as the procedure is quite painful. The most important thing is to think before you have it done. Don't get a tattoo while under the influence of alcohol or peer pressure".
