US Leaders Asked to Investigate Breast Cancer Risk of Abortion

Breast-CancerThe Coalition on Abortion / Breast Cancer (CABC), in collaboration with several doctors and pro-life organizations, sent a letter to President Obama and Congressional Leaders demanding an investigation of the U. S. National Cancer Institute following claims that abortions and oral contraceptives carry the risk of breast cancer.

In a move that could add further credibility to the anti-abortion campaign, the coalition has also called for an immediate termination of federal funding for abortion if the findings supported the claims.

“We request that any public funding of abortion be removed entirely from all legislation being considered by this Congress and that Congress also exercise its proper oversight authority and investigate the role of the NCI in communicating information about breast cancer risks to the American public”.

A study by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, released the previous year, stated that a woman’s chance of contracting breast cancer is increased 40% if she undergoes abortion. The study which has since been supported by the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute has yet to be made public.
