South Africa is at present facing the outbreak of H1N1flu virus, popularly known as swine flu, but the Department of Health has claimed that the situation was under control. As per the department, the infection arrives in this season every year.
A report revealed that 15 people have died due to the infection. According to Fidel Hadebe, Spokesperson of the Department of Health, they had vaccines which could fight the influenza since 2009 when the world was struck with the outbreak of swine flu and was trying to fight it.
The department assured that they were prepared to face the various epidemics during winters along with swine flu. Fidel Hadebe had recommend people of the country to take some precautions so that they don’t get infected with the virus. As per the recommendations, people were supposed to wash their hands regularly, while sneezing they should be using tissues, people should avoid meeting sick people and the ones who develop symptoms of the flu should stay back at home so as to avoid infecting others as the infection was highly communicable.
"The department would like to re-assure the public that it is well-geared to respond to the influenza situation in this country, including H1N1", spokesperson Fidel Hadebe said in a statement on Sunday.
