The Health Minister has lashed out at the claims made by the Labour Party saying that the government’s aim about claiming that health system needs improvements is in order to advance reform.
Labour has accused the party of painting a wrong picture of a health system in crisis.
Health Minister Tony Ryall said his aim was to deliver better health services to New Zealanders for which the government has to work with health professionals.
There has been a lot of criticism for the Horn report that states that health system needs improvement. Don Matheson from Massey University says he the report missed some important truths.
Matheson said that it was evident that the purpose of the health report was to come up with ways of cutting health spending in about 20 years time. He concluded it seeing government’s response to the report in October in which government announced $700 million in health savings and 500 potential job cuts.
The Labour Party also added that the government was spreading a scare among people by stating that health system needed reforms.
