Telstra mobile has now changed itself from just simple phones to Twitter based phones. The phones are now enhanced with social networking possibilities.
The company launched SMS alert system for Twitter which will be free for its customers.
Jenny Young, Telstra's consumer executive director, said that now these young people need not wait to get home to start tweeting, but can just keep the site very handy all the day long. She also added, ”Twitter updates via SMS allow Telstra customers to stay connected to one of their favourite social networking sites, while on the move".
When Twitter user post tweets via SMS, they will be charged by standard SNS rates. Telstra's new plans include a rate of 25c per message, but some prepaid deals even include a number of free SMSs or will charge just 1c each for the first 100 text messages per day.
Kevin Thau, who is Twitter's mobile director, seems very excited about the launch of Twitter on SMS, and also about working with Telstra.
Twitter via SMS is already present in many countries including New Zealand, US, Canada, UK, India, Indonesia and Ireland.
