Korean manufacturer Samsung will abandon using locked bootloaders on its future devices unless Google would call for it in particular, a tweet from Android app developer Supercurio claimed.

The developer claimed that a source at Samsung informed him that bootloaders on Samsung’s future devices such as mobile phones would be unlocked as long as Google would not require otherwise.

It may be noted here that well protected bootloaders are nearly impossible to crack.

In case the rumor turns to be true it will be great news for the developers and mobile players because they will not be distressed by the lock restrictions.

The developer also tweeted that he did not know about the bootloader plans for tablets. He added that Samsung might not apply the new strategy to tablet devices because its tablet projects were still young.
