BlackBerry smartphone owners in Australia and New Zealand need no longer despair. The applications that until now were available only to their counterparts in US, UK, Europe and Canada will now be available here too.
Research In Motion (RIM) has launched Blackberry App World on 11 December where free mobile apps such as - BlackBerry Messenger, Bloomberg Mobile, Daily Horoscope, Dictionary. com
(including Dictionary and Thesaurus), Facebook, Flickr, ipass, Mippin, MySpace, Navita Translator, Nobex Radio Companion, ProOnGo Express, The Weather Channel, Tune Wiki, UberTwitter, Viigo, Vlingo, World News and WorldMate Live: Travel Like a Pro will be easily downloadable through 2G, 3G and Wi-Fi enabled phones.
Though paid apps will require some more time to come, this is just the tip of the iceberg. With technologies like Symbian, Windows Mobile platforms and Android already existing, and Nokia's Maemo and Samsung's Bada on the way, the number of apps that will be offered and the developers who create scores of them daily, is just unimaginable.
Adele Beachley, Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand, Research In Motion said, “BlackBerry App World provides a fantastic new resource and enhanced experience for customers and an equally exciting business opportunity for RIM’s partners”.
