The New York Attorney General sent cease-and-desist letters to thirteen companies on Wednesday, which sells herbal remedy termed devil's claw as the DNA technology used to examine them found a cheaper substitute of the herb mentioned in the label.

Eric Schneiderman, the NY AG said that the herbal dietary supplements containing devil's claw material were put to test at the New York Botanical Garden and the results revealed that it contained a dissimilar botanical species not matching what was actually labeled which was a "less desirable" species of the herb.
