As per reports, it has been revealed that duck hunters have been warned to avoid two lakes, Lake Ellesmere near Christchurch and Lake Rotorua near Kaikoura. The Canterbury District Health Board said that the announcement has been made due to the spread of toxic algae in the lakes.

Figures released by the Social Development Ministry have revealed that in past few years, the number of people seeking sickness benefits has multiplied significantly. A dramatic hike has been witnessed at Blenheim and Kaikoura.
