Poto Williams preserved Labour's century old strong hold on the seat of Christchurch East yesterday with a comprehensive 61 per cent of the vote, replacing former Labour MP and new city Mayor Lianne Dalziel.
She secured 8119 votes which gave her 4613 more than National's Matthew Doocey, who got 3506 votes.
