A midwife has recently been criticized by Anthony Hill, Health and Disability Commissioner, for her failure in giving proper care to a pregnant woman, 24.
It has been found that the woman had called the midwife a week back before her due date. A text was sent to her, informing her that she was scared regarding lack of movement by her unborn baby.

Nurses are there for the welfare of patients. Recently a case has been brought into notice by the Health and Disability Commissioner in which a registered nurse gave wrong medication to a seriously ill patient and then didn’t even reported about the same to senior doctors for next two days. It was only after the patient’s death that the nurse disclosed her error.

In his yesterday's decision, Health and Disability commissioner Mr. Anthony Hill said that the brain surgery patient had died after `sub-optimal care' as the DHB could not provide him with appropriate services standard.

In a report by the Health and Disability Commissioner, Anthony Hill investigated why a surgeon operated on a woman to remove gallbladder which he had already removed a few years ago.
The doctor operated the woman in order to remove her gallbladder this year when he already removed it 14 years ago in 1996.
