The official guide of the UK Government for healthy diet has recommended a reduction in consumption of dairy products.

The dairy farmers have expressed anger over the new recommendations. The latest Eatwell Guide recommends nearly halving the proportion of dairy products in the diet to eight per cent, compared to 15 per cent recommended earlier. The guide, which was published yesterday, recommends people to consume "some dairy or dairy alternatives (such as soya drinks) choosing lower-fat and lower-sugar options".

A team of scientists have said that they an experimental cannabis-based drug was successfully used to treat children with a rare, severe form of epilepsy in a clinical trial.

The clinical trial is the first of the four final stage tests of the drug that are scheduled to take place within this year. Drug-maker GW Pharmaceuticals is aiming to prove that there are therapeutic benefits of cannabinoids, which is an ingredient of marijuana.

The medical cannabis industry advocates are asking the Montana Supreme Court to delay the implementation of a ruling which was announced last month and will limit the providers to sell to no more than three patients. On Friday, a petition for rehearing was filed before the deadline for the ruling, that will uphold and bring to effect most of a state law of 201, imposing stern restrictions on selling medical marijuana.
