Twitter Posts Escalate to 50 Million Everyday

TwitterOn Monday, Kevin Weil, member of the analytics team at Twitter, blogged that the social networking site, Twitter is fielding 50 million Tweets every day.

People are tweeting around 600 tweets per second, on an average.

In year 2007, Twitter posts accounted to only 5,000 tweets per day. The number elevated to 300,000 in 2008 and 2.5 million in 2009. Last year, the average number of tweets rose 1,400% to 35 million every day.

New Retweet Feature Added by Twitter for Limited Users

Popular social networking site Twitter is in the process of testing out a new retweeting feature under Project Retweet, which will enable users to easily and quickly forward any interesting tweet they stumble upon to all their followers.

Initially, for the test phase, only a limited number of user profiles have been equipped with the retweet button. Twitter first wants to bug test the addition and ensure that all is well and working, post which the feature will be released for all Twitter users.
