The results of Laptop Magazine's battery-testing contest for Android-based devices show that the Motorola Droid X handset bagged the top spot, with its battery boasting the ability to run the handset for 7 hours and
42 minutes.

Though there have of late been numerous rumors as well as actual announcements of potential iPad-challenger tablet devices forthcoming from a number of bigwig manufacturers, the most notable of all contenders apparently is Motorola – or more specifically, the dynamic Motorola-Verizon pair!

The much talked new Motorla phone called the Droid Pro is claimed to be nothing but the global re-tooled version of the Motorola Droid 2, which was unveiled by Verizon on August 12, Tech website Engadget reported.

Verizon Wireless has proclaimed the release of Motorola Droid 2 followed by a trail of leaks of price, specs and release date.

Officials state that the device has been released today, with online pre-sales gearing up the charts.

The company claims that this new offering will be available under Motorola's flagship and will be selling for $200 with 2-year contract, or $600 without the contract offering.

The Motorola Droid 2, which is reportedly a decent upgrade from the original Droid launched by the company last September, will hit the stores on Thursday, August 12, with presales for the handset starting on August 11.

According to tech industry insiders, the markedly beefed-up Motorola Droid 2, the successor to the popular Droid handset, is expected to hit the stores later this week.
