It seems to be an end of a long stalemate between the subsidiary of AMR corp., American Airlines and its long time business associate, Expedia, an online travel agency.

As per the reports, the contract between American Airlines and Expedia went under clouds three months back over the use of a new technology to channelize the reservation system of AMR.

Federal officers are examining an event where an American Airlines plane turned off at the conclusion of a runway, conveys that the airline inappropriately downloaded data through the plane's flight recorder prior to revolving it above to the government.

The renowned name in the airline industry, Jetstar has recently teamed up with the airline giant American Airlines. Under the partnership between the duo, it will focus on codesharing on the domestic New Zealand flights.

American Airlines has been fined with $24.2 million by The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as maintenance charges for cancellation of thousand of MD-80 flights. The cancellations took place in 2008.

This is the largest penalty that has been imposed by FAA and it is said that American is negotiating to reduce it.

American Airlines and private equity firm TPG are looking to join hands for an investment in Japan Airlines which is currently struggling to survive. Asia's biggest carrier by sales, JAL has been struggling with a $15 Million debt, a large pension deficient and many unprofitable routes, in addition to the current economic downturn and a significant fall in number of passengers. AA and TPG's investment will give them a stake in the Asian airline.
