"We will initially import the engines [from Europe], but will in future manufacture them locally," Sriram Padmanabhan, vice president for marketing at Ford's India unit, said Friday.

Ford India is planning to manufacture the engine at Chennai.

YH production of MU-7 SUV and D-Max will begin in the Indian plant by 2016. Isuzu has to currently import the fully built models from its plant in Thailand. The company has already initiated the sales operations in Hyderabad and Coimbatore.
