NTSB: Failed right wing caused crash landing of Facebook’s Aquila drone’s first test flight

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued a new report on the structural failure which caused the crash landing of Facebook's solar-powered drone Aquila's first test flight. The crash took place on June 28, outside Yuma, Arizona.

According to the NTSB's report, the crash landing of the Aquila drone's first test flight was caused by the failure of its right wing. The report also said that the drone was struck by a strong, hot gust of wind from below, five seconds before landing.

Security experts say Yahoo’s sale to Verizon could get disrupted

According to security experts, Yahoo's pending sale of its core assets to Verizon could get disrupted because of its move to force some users to reset their passwords after its disclosure of a security breach on Wednesday. Verizon is offering $4.83 billion to Yahoo to acquire its core assets.

Apple launches standalone support app for iOS in US

Tech giant Apple has recently released a standalone support application - the new Apple Support app - for iOS users in the US. The app, though already available for download from the US App Store, bears a US launch date of December 14.

In announcing the launch of the new Apple Support app in the US, Apple said that the app will also be rolled out in some more countries in the next few weeks.

Niantic introduces new creatures in Pokémon GO game

In a move which marks the expansion of the Pokémon roster in the popular Pokémon GO mobile game, developer Niantic Labs has announced the release of a new update introducing some new creatures in the July 2016-launched game.

In announcing the new update, Niantic said that, with effect from Monday, December 12, the new creatures which can now be collected by Pokémon GO gamers include Togepi, Pichu, and some "select Pokémon" from the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver iterations.

Magic Leap CEO defends claims that his company is overhyping its flagship VR headset

On Thursday, Rony Abovitz - the CEO of the secretive virtual reality (VR) startup Magic Leap - said in a Twitter post that Magic Leap's flagship VR headset is not being over-hyped by the company.

Though Abovitz, a biomedical engineer, has hinted in a series of tweets that some issues have been experienced by Magic Leap with the early prototypes of its VR headset, he has rebuffed The Information's recent report that the capabilities of the headset - identical to everyday sunglasses - have apparently been "oversold" by the company.

Nintendo’s ‘Super Mario Run’ mobile game launches Dec. 15

Nintendo is set to launch its first proper mobile game - called 'Super Mario run' - on December 15, 2016.

The forthcoming Super Mario Run game - which will bring Nintendo's popular mustachioed plumber Mario to mobile devices - is an old-school side-scrolling adventure, marking Nintendo's first serious experiment with selling games sans hardware.

In announcing the upcoming launch of Super Mario run next Thursday, Nintendo said that the game is first being released for the iOS devices --- the iPhone and iPad. Later, an Android version of the game will also be rolled out.
